Baritone Ashley Mercer was born and raised in Essex, and graduated with distinction from the Masters course at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, where he was a TCM Trust Scholar and a Kathleen Roberts Scholar, and was awarded the Paul Simm Opera Prize. He studies with John Rawnsley.

A versatile singer, as a soloist he performs a wide range of repertoire from baroque to contemporary, specialising in opera and oratorio. He is also an experienced choral singer and has appeared on multiple recordings, as well as broadcasts for BBC Radio 3 and Classic FM, and is a deputy member of the BBC Singers.
